Mission Statement

 

At Parkgate House School, we believe each pupil is special and has unique talents, interests and strengths. The staff work together to nurture our pupils whatever their needs and to encourage and help each pupil to achieve their full potential.

Children with SEN must be valued as individuals and should be encouraged to integrate with their peers, both socially and academically. We support children in a manner that acknowledges their entitlement to share the same learning experiences that their peers enjoy.

Partnership with parents is key to enabling pupils with SEN to achieve their potential. All parents of pupils with SEN are treated as partners and supported to play an active and valued role in their child’s education.

We believe that pupils with SEN should be involved in the planning of their learning. This will in turn raise the achievement and attainment of all pupils with SEN. Together, along with the help of professionals and their parents, pupils with SEN are encouraged to create an Individual Education Plan (IEP) which is tailor made to each pupil’s needs. This allows for the curriculum to be delivered in an accessible manner, regardless of any disability. We employ a dedicated team of Learning Support Teachers and Teaching Assistants who liaise with the schools Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator in order to best support the pupils learning.

Just like with all pupils we aim to encourage pupils with SEN to grow into caring, responsible people with a love of learning, who can work and co-operate with others while developing their knowledge and skills, so that they can recognise their full potential.
